A Place to Grow
ULS is an intentionally distinctive community, thoughtfully planted in the middle of 180 acres of pristine woods in the Lake Country of Waukesha County. Often referred to as Hawk Hill, the campus is enveloped by majestic trees, open prairielands, and inviting greenspaces, creating a setting that inspires curiosity and connection. Across campus, a variety of learning spaces support students of all ages, from our youngest 2-year-olds to ambitious seniors. More than just a school, ULS is a place where students grow, explore, and form meaningful relationships with their peers, teachers, and environment.
Our Spaces & Places
Learning in Nature’s Classroom
At ULS, nature is more than a backdrop — it’s an integral part of the learning experience. Surrounded by towering trees, open prairielands, and inviting greenspaces, our campus provides students with endless opportunities to explore, discover, and engage. Miles of scenic trails transform the outdoors into a dynamic classroom, while our gardens, greenhouse, and barn — home to the school’s goats! — offer hands-on learning in sustainability. Fresh vegetables and herbs cultivated on-site through our Farm to Table Program even find their way into the ULS lunch program (Laker Café), reinforcing our commitment to healthy living and environmental stewardship.
Outdoor Spaces
From nature observation to forest studies, students in all grade levels experience learning through nature.
