Position Summary
University Lake School seeks a Head of the Lower School Division to provide visionary, relational, and operational leadership for its Lower School program. Responsible for the academic, social-emotional, and cultural life of the Preprimary (age 2–K) and Lower School (grades 1–4) divisions, the Lower School Head serves as the primary steward of the division’s student experience and programmatic vitality. Reporting to the Head of School, John Dewis, and serving as a member of the School Leadership Team, the Lower School Head oversees day-to-day operations, faculty development, student life, and parent communication; plays a vital role in advancing the School’s mission and values; and contributes to school-wide strategic initiatives.

Position Summary
University Lake School is seeking an Athletic Director for the 2026–27 school year (or sooner for the right candidate). This person will be an integral member of the School Leadership Team, overseeing program planning, coach onboarding and support, scheduling, and communication. In partnership with staffulty, families, the Booster Club, students, and peer schools within ULS athletic conferences, the Athletic Director will help ensure a well-coordinated and community-connected athletics program. The Athletic Director will play a key role in continuing to build and strengthen a cohesive, mission-aligned athletics program that reflects the School’s commitment to student growth, sportsmanship, and inclusive participation. Working within a close-knit independent school environment that values both competitive excellence and joyful engagement in sport, the Athletic Director will help cultivate a program where students of all ages are encouraged to develop skills, confidence, and a lifelong love of athletics.
The Athletic Director serves in a school-wide leadership capacity and reports directly to the Head of School. In the management of gym rentals and broader facilities use, the Athletic Director works closely with and reports to the Chief Financial Officer. Direct reports include the Assistant Athletic Director (who currently manages middle school athletics), all full- and part-time middle and upper school coaching staff, as well as external vendors connected to the athletics program. Physical Education faculty report to their respective Division Heads but partner closely with the Athletic Director to ensure alignment between the curricular and co-curricular athletics experience.

Student-Athlete Experience

Manage Athletic Buildings & Spaces

- Ensure access control is synced with schedules and buildings are closed and locked at the end of each evening.
- Coordinate the lining and maintenance of fields with coaches- soccer and field hockey.
Operations, Compliance & Logistics
- Oversee all aspects of WIAA membership and compliance, including representation at conference meetings, WIAA-sanctioned meetings, and league events.
- Manage athletics operations, including scheduling, transportation, officials, facilities, inventory, and game-day logistics.
- Develop, manage, and operate within the athletics budget and oversee recordkeeping for Athletics.
- Coordinate gym usage, referee scheduling, and payments to ensure smooth daily operations.
Community Engagement & Advancement
- Lead community outreach efforts to strengthen partnerships and enhance the school’s visibility.
- Collaborate with and support the Booster Club, fostering positive engagement and shared goals.

Communication & Marketing

Additional Responsibilities
- Lead home game management and event support, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment.
- Manage the Athletics department budget.
- Work with the business office to accurately bill rental groups, co-op teams, and pay athletics expenditures.
- Complete special projects and initiatives as assigned in support of institutional priorities.
- May be asked to teach 1-2 classes.
Hours: School days from 12pm - 8pm plus occasional mornings. Occasional weekends (estimated at 25% of weekends throughout the year). This position is a school-year position, with some summer hours required.

Job Description
University Lake School (ULS) is seeking a talented, effective, and dedicated Cross Divisional Physical Education Teacher who is passionate about impacting student achievement and making a difference in the lives of students through high-quality physical education programming. This appointment is valid for the 2026-2027 school year. The right candidate may extend the appointment into the following school year.
Essential Functions and Expectations
- Understand the unique developmental, social, and physical needs of the K-8th grade student.
- Serve as a mentor to students in the areas of personal responsibility, teamwork, leadership, and healthy lifestyle habits.
- Care about students, within and beyond the gym or field, and exhibit enthusiasm for physical education and wellness by designing engaging lessons, activities, and assessments that promote skill development, fitness, sportsmanship, and lifelong physical activity.
- Demonstrate expertise in the assigned content area while exhibiting enthusiasm for the topics taught and developing lessons, classroom experiences, and assessments that encourage student inquiry and discussion.
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
- Collaborate as a team player with teaching colleagues and administrators. Partner with parents, guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to communicate effectively and frequently with them.
- Market the school with a willingness to showcase one’s teaching and communicate with prospective students and families.
- Support school activities by attending, participating, and assisting with school events as required, such as Open Houses and other large-scale community events.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required, as well as take on supervisory roles such as advisor and duties such as lunch.
- Commit to ongoing professional development via an annual program of research, workshop attendance, and visiting other classes and schools.
- Learn new skills as changing pedagogy dictates.
- Commit to timely and professional grading and communication with all stakeholders.
- Model self-disciplined, flexible, and ethical behavior.
Education and Experience
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in education, physical education, kinesiology, exercise science, or a related field. Strong preference for candidates with coursework or training focused on lower and middle school education
- A minimum of one year of teaching experience, coaching experience, or student teaching in a similar educational environment.

Job Description
We are seeking a talented, effective, and dedicated Assistant Teacher to assist the Lead Teacher in a first grade classroom and ensure the success of all students. This Teacher should be passionate about impacting academic achievement and making a difference in children's lives through high-quality instruction. This appointment is valid for the 2026-27 school year.
Essential functions and expectations
- Support the lead teacher to enable a rich classroom environment in concert with the Reggio Emilia approach, including regular adjustments and adaptations to bring to life the learning of the students.
- Support students under the direction of the lead teacher by providing targeted, hands-on learning experiences to small groups of students to reinforce core literacy and math concepts.
- Care about kids, within and beyond the classroom, and exhibit enthusiasm for the topics one teaches.
- Collaborate as a team player with teaching colleagues and administrators.
- Support school activities by attending, participating, and assisting with school events as required, such as Laker Playgroup, Open Houses, and other large-scale community events.
- As determined, attend staff meetings and serve on committees, as well as take on duties for recess, pick-up or drop-off, and lunch.
- Commit to ongoing professional development via an annual program of research, workshop attendance, and visiting others' classes and schools.
- Learn new skills as changing pedagogy dictates.

Education & Experience
- Degree in Elementary Education.
- Preference given to teachers specifically with an elementary reading and math background.

Job Description
We are seeking a kind and dedicated Afternoon Preprimary Assistant Teacher. This individual will provide a safe and welcoming late-day experience for Lower School students and support preprimary teachers as they ready the students for the end of the day, scheduled to be 2-5:30 p.m. on school days. The assistant will work with preprimary teachers from 2-3 p.m. and then in the Stay and Play room of the Lower School from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. M-F, and will provide care and nurturing in the following ways:
- Support our youngest students and their teachers as they wake from nap.
- Set up artistic and building experiences to keep children engaged,, as well as use the playgrounds and gym when available.
- Keep track of who is in attendance and what time they arrive.
- Greet all children and support any children who are having trouble transitioning.
- Greet parents and answer the Stay and Play phone.
- Attend to minor emergencies and first aid needs.
- Notify the Stay and Play Director, the LS Head, and the LS Admin Assistant if there are any challenges or emergencies
Education & Experience
- Should be at least 18 years old, with coursework in early childhood education or an Associate's Degree.
- Minimum one year of experience or student teaching in a similar environment.
A Candidate Should Demonstrate:
