University Lake School is proud to host The College of Wooster Chorus from Ohio on March 14th at 7pm. Wooster Chorus is a premiere choral ensemble. Wooster has recently showcased works by several American Composers including Eric Whitacre and Jake Runestad. In recent years, the Chorus has been featured at the OMEA State Conferences and at the ACDA Central Division Conference in Chicago. George Marn, ULS Class of ’14, is a member of this amazing chorus! This event is free and open to the public.
Faculty welcomes new and returning students to school every year with a wonderful community event prior to the first day of school. This event gives students a chance to see their new classroom, say hello to teachers and connect with friends for a great beginning to the year.
Homecoming week is a school-wide event in late September. It includes Fall Field Day and special activities each day. The week ends with an all-school Homecoming parade through the streets of downtown Delafield. After the parade, students and parents return to campus to cheer for our fall sports teams, share a community dinner hosted by the Booster Club and enjoy a bonfire.
ULS concerts are held twice a year in the Treiber Theater. The winter concerts are traditionally held in early December and the spring concerts in late April or early May. Each concert celebrates the musical accomplishments of our students.
Traditionally, parents from grade or division levels host parties throughout the school year. These informal social gatherings provide parents with a great opportunity to connect with one another.
Each year, student artists host a public exhibit in the Thekla P. Brumder Fine Arts Gallery. Gallery Night is an evening reception showcasing and celebrating the visual arts accomplishments of our students.
Held the first full weekend in October, the Barn Sale is one of the school’s largest fundraisers and a tradition that began with the founding of ULS nearly sixty years ago. This event is staffed with students, parents, alumni and friends of ULS. All proceeds fund scholarship programs and items not sold during the event are donated to local charitable organizations.
The Theatre department produces two major shows annually. In the fall, students perform a dramatic play. The school musical is performed in the winter, with recent selections including Little Shop of Horrors, Les Miserables, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and Beauty and the Beast.
The Spring Auction is a capstone fundraising event held annually. Past venues include the ULS Michels Campus Green and the Oconomowoc Lake Club. In addition to celebrating what makes ULS special, attendees have the opportunity to bid on silent and live auction items.
Students spend the day outdoors engaged in a variety of games and activities, competing on the Green and White teams. Winter activities include snow football, ice skating, sled races and snowshoeing. Spring activities include the all-school relay and tug-of-war, closing the day with a community picnic at the athletic pavilion.
