As you read our statements about the instruction and learning of our students, you will see the focus we place on individual learners. We value the abilities and creativity that each student brings to our learning community and work to provide them all with opportunities to grow to their highest potentials.

Goals
University Lake School challenges students to achieve a mastery of academic skills, the development of habits for lifelong learning, a respect for human dignity, an appreciation and understanding of aesthetic principles, the realization of individual talents, and a respect for a healthy lifestyle, teamwork and competition.
Our Beliefs and Values
We strive to develop knowledge, curiosity, courtesy and confidence in students. We encourage students to be concerned for others, to be active participants in and out of class, and to have a sense of humor and a positive attitude.

We believe teachers should be knowledgeable in their subject matter, warm in their manner, generous with their time, and flexible and creative in their methods. We believe that teachers should set high but realistic expectations for their students, and should model lifelong learning.

We value intellectual curiosity, integrity, honesty, responsibility, individuality, mutual respect, global consciousness and the acceptance of differences.

We strive to be a community of learners. We believe in an approach to education which is hands-on, active and stimulating. We set challenging but attainable goals for our students. We value the support of parents and alumni in our efforts to fulfill our mission.
