Pre-Primary Program - An Overview

University Lake School’s Kindergarten programs involve the internationally recognized Reggio Emilia approach to teaching and learning which fosters inquiry, experience, reflection and expression. The child is respected as capable, competent, and full of abilities and ideas. The teachers co-construct in-depth investigations with the students so that each child is actively involved with the studies. These investigations may last for a week, month or extend throughout the entire school year. By using the Reggio approach to early childhood education, children develop life long learning skills.

Because they are encouraged to observe, question, hypothesize and experiment in authentic, meaningful investigations, the children’s learning extends far beyond basic skills. Most importantly, students leave the kindergarten programs excited about learning and with the skills and confidence to succeed in the next stages of their educational careers

This page is dedicated towards providing insight into the daily activities of our Junior and Senior Kindergarten students. This page contains a few examples of the daily communication pieces that we send out to our families. Please feel free to browse these sample journals, as they will be updated from time to time. If you are the parent of a current Kindergarten student please check your e-mail frequently as we will be sending out journals and class information on a daily basis.
